As ostrich exhibits continue to develop in modern zoos and wildlife parks, traditional fencing systems are increasingly showing their limitations. Ostriches are large, powerful birds that require spacious environments, while their enclosures must provide sufficient strength, visibility, flexibility, and long-term outdoor durability.

Adult ostriches can generate considerable impact when they run into or push against a fence. A rigid fencing system may be damaged by repeated impacts and can also increase the risk of injury. Hard metal structures may cause scratches or other injuries if an ostrich comes into direct contact with them. In addition, conventional fencing materials may deteriorate over time when continuously exposed to rain, snow, sunlight, and other outdoor conditions.

For these reasons, stainless steel wire rope mesh is becoming an increasingly popular solution for modern ostrich enclosures.

Recently, we shipped a batch of stainless steel wire rope mesh by sea to Spain for a zoo ostrich enclosure project. According to the customer, the zoo had previously used wooden fencing for its ostrich area. However, after years of exposure to rain, snow, sunlight, and repeated impact from the ostriches, the wooden fencing had deteriorated significantly and required frequent replacement. This resulted in increasing maintenance work and operating costs.

The zoo therefore decided to replace the traditional wooden fencing with a more durable and flexible stainless steel mesh system.
