AISI 304 stainless steel is suitable for most indoor and outdoor environments and can meet the requirements of the majority of zoo applications. AISI 316 stainless steel contains molybdenum, which provides better resistance to chloride-related corrosion than 304 stainless steel. Therefore, 316 stainless steel is particularly recommended for more demanding environments, such as coastal areas, marine climates, humid environments, and tropical rainforests, especially where exposure to salt spray, moisture, or chlorides is higher.
