stainless steel wire rope mesh

Leopards are agile, adept climbers equipped with sharp claws and teeth. Therefore, enclosure fencing for leopards must deliver outstanding resistance to impact, climbing and tearing.

Conventional metal fences have notable drawbacks. Sharp edges on their surfaces may injure animals. Their rigid structures tend to deform under leopard impacts. When exposed outdoors over long periods, they are prone to rusting, resulting in high maintenance costs. In addition, these bulky fences block visitors’ views and make immersive exhibit design impossible.

Recently, we have fulfilled an order for stainless steel cable netting from a client in Seattle, USA. The client intends to renovate the leopard exhibit mesh, as the original protective infrastructure fails to meet requirements for big cat safety control, animal welfare and long-term operation & maintenance.

After comparing multiple solutions, the client selected hand-woven stainless steel netting for the leopard containment system. This material has proven successful in existing big cat enclosure projects and can accommodate the protection needs of highly active predators like leopards.

Order Highlights

• Product: Hand-woven stainless steel cable netting

• Material: AISI 316 stainless steel

• Surface: Natural stainless steel finish

• Mesh size: 102 × 102 mm

• Cable diameter: 3.2 mm

• Cable structure: 7×19

As the exhibit sits within a coastal zoo, we selected AISI 316 stainless steel. With molybdenum content, this material withstands chloride ion corrosion and performs reliably in high-chloride coastal environments.

Leopards are large and powerfully explosive. Our 3.2 mm cable delivers high tensile strength to absorb impacts from adult leopards’ jumps and pounces. The 7×19 rope construction is softer than 7×7, well-suited for curved and custom-shaped enclosures. The 102×102 mm mesh stops adult leopards from pushing their heads through to escape, while the opening size prevents paw entrapment and animal injury.

Why Choose Customizable Stainless Steel Woven Mesh for Leopard Exhibition Mesh?

1. High-strength Flexible Structure, Smooth and Soft Net Surface

Our hand-woven stainless steel leopard exhibition mesh features a high-strength flexible construction. It resists impacts, pounces, scratching and tearing from leopards, with minimal risk of breakage or deformation. All cable joints are tightly fastened. The smooth, burr-free cables have no sharp welded edges.

There is no risk of weld breakage commonly seen on welded wire mesh. It reliably stops escape and protects animals and visitors.

2. Superior Corrosion Resistance & Low Long-term Maintenance

We offer both AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel options for inland, humid and coastal outdoor conditions. The cable netting withstands rain and moisture corrosion, with a service lifespan of 20–30 years. Fully reusable and non-polluting, it reduces capital spending on repeated barrier replacement and maintenance work.

3. Fully Customizable for Irregular Leopard Exhibition Mesh Designs

Leopard habitats commonly include curved and sloped anti-climbing structures. Our cable net panels, mesh openings and cable diameters are all made-to-order. Panels can be manufactured to fit uneven exhibit frames perfectly. We precisely match mesh size and cable gauge based on leopards’ body dimensions and activity intensity, achieving an optimal balance between safety and cost control.

4. High Transparency & Immersive Viewing

Unlike heavy traditional metal fencing and solid barriers, our stainless steel cable netting has low visual interference. Visitors get an unobstructed view of leopards’ natural behaviours. The solution delivers immersive exhibits without compromising safety. Its open habitat design prevents leopards from feeling confined, in line with contemporary zoo enclosure design principles.

Applications

The enclosure system designed for leopards is also suitable for other large felids such as tigers and lions. Customized netting solutions can be provided according to the body size of different animals. Common application cases include zoo mesh.

Large-open aviaries: commonly used for large-sized birds such as vultures, peacocks and flamingos.

Curved Tunnel Netting: Widely used in zoo exhibits for animal passages, such as tunnels for tigers, monkeys and gorillas.

Wildlife Reserves: Beyond commercial zoos, stainless steel woven mesh is also used in wildlife reserves for physical animal segregation. Featuring high transparency, stainless steel woven mesh blends naturally into the surrounding landscape and creates a comfortable living environment for animals.

Architecture: Thanks to the tensile strength and excellent flexibility of stainless steel woven mesh, it is widely applied for balustrade protection and low-altitude drone defense.
