Black stainless steel woven mesh is made by twisting and interweaving stainless steel wire ropes at each intersection to form a strong and flexible mesh structure. Black Oxide Stainless Steel Wire Rope Mesh Material Selection
Black oxide stainless steel wire rope mesh is hand-woven from high-quality AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel wire ropes. Its black finish comes from chemical oxidation treatment. Unlike a painted coating, the black oxidation layer will not peel off, leave flake off or produce loose debris. It will not harm animals and maintains stable performance under long-term outdoor exposure when used outdoors.
AISI 304 stainless steel is our standard grade, cost-effective for inland and regular outdoor zoo enclosures. AISI 316 stainless steel contains molybdenum (Mo), giving it better resistance to corrosion in environments exposed to salt and chlorides. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for coastal areas, marine environments, and other high-salinity or high-chloride conditions.
The choice between AISI 304 and AISI 316 can be made according to the environmental conditions of the application, to strike the right balance of corrosion resistance, service life, and project budget.
Black Oxide Stainless Steel Wire Rope Specification Selection
The size and behavioural traits of animals are important factors in determining the appropriate mesh opening, while the impact load from animals and the required safety rating help determine the wire rope diameter. The specific mesh opening and wire rope diameter should be selected according to the animal species, enclosure design, and project requirements.
